WELCOME TO BIRMINGHAM'S 20'S PLENTY
30mph limits were introduced in the 1930’s when there were a 10th of the numbers of cars on British roads. Since then, with increased technology, car acceleration speeds and times have changed dramatically. So even small cars are comparatively powerful.
Yet it is only recently that calls for 20mph limits where people live have begun to be taken seriously. The benefits are self-evident:
· Better road safety
· Creates an environment to encourage walking and cycling
· Better for the environment especially with emissions particularly in hhhh the case of diesel cars, vans and lorries ….link
· A kinder and more caring place for us to work, learn and play in
Birmingham City Council and councillors are beginning to implement the first 3 areas in and close to the city centre where the majority of streets will become 20mph limits.
It is our aim that all communities in Birmingham should benefit from 20mph limits where they live.
Please contact us with any queries, comments and if you would like to start a campaign in your street or area. We can help.
